The official reason given for the Dubai-New York flight quarantine was food poisoning. CDC says 100 people are sick.

It is interesting to note that "food poisoning" does not necessarily exclude cholera, especially considering shellfish can carry the bacteria.

Its quite likely this is just an extra cautious reaction to a coincidence. After all, the French were warned by Algeria, and the CDC would surely get a memo on that.

Nevertheless, I though it was worth mentioning.

It's the only safe thing to do. You don't want a pandemic starting at an airport.

I agree completely! Contagious pathogens are not something to be taken lightly.

I'm just wondering if the "food poisoning" part could be a half-truth meant to contain panic. After all, history has shown that fear of something can do more harm than the thing itself.
