Who would ever consider a tree that smells like rotting fish to be "delightful to have in my yard"?

Probably the same people who think hairless cats and pugs are cute.

My city council did, they planted them everywhere. They like to shit large limbs on the street after an ice storm too.

They have these at our office complex. Smell of trash and attract flies. Some years really bad, some not so noticeable.

I've never noticed the smell, but I'm very bored with them as street trees.
