Jeans kick ass... so much so that Chinese recycling firms look for jean material first when they receive used goods from the USA. Same must go for corduroy IMO (just using common sense to propose a hypothesis). Both are rugged and last a long time, and if you were to buy one good pair of jeans or corduroy it'd last a lot longer than if you buy new age stretchy denim shit or the new low quality denim available at affordable prices. If I were a Dragon den POS I'd want you to buy 5 or 6 pairs of shit a year at a reduced price, because I'd pocket a lot more money. Especially when you need 5 or 6 more pairs the following year. Please feel free to critique this as it's a common sense argument.

I don't see any flaws in your rational, but I think there may be an additional component.
Many modern consumer needs actually are better met by the new, cheap fabrics. Some people value fashion over function and don't care that a material lacks durability. In other cases a consumer may be attracted to a unique trait of the fabric. Eg, spandex to show off, polyester to wick moisture, etc.
The materials are almost always lighter. That may not matter to men like you or I, but most young people today, are fragile and weak.

So it's not all evil intentions.

You make great sense. however ripped jeans and tight shorts have done that exact thing for women for a long time... I daresay I'm more attracted to tough jean shorts from the 90s than I am to the slut versions like spandex "show me your entire figure, fuck the imagination" shit of today... it's less sexy when there's nothing left to the imagination... why's that so popular? Chicks with ugly asses wear that shit today, even though they'd be better off hiding their flaws with imaginative and more rugged fabric like jean... Haven't you seen enough wedgies to think maybe the brown eyed girl was supposed to be about her eyes and not her... you know...

I don't think it's about looking sexy. I think it's about looking easy. It doesn't take women long to learn that men are far more likely to pursue them if they look like a whore than a lady.

If it was up to me, I would make manufacturing spandex clothing in sizes above medium punishable by death.

That's part of the problem. Women are reducing themselves... and a lot of them are just fucking kids... I have two daughters and I don't think spandex is appropriate, I get aggravated when kiddos wear this shit.. it's just self prophesy for rape in other cultures.... I'm roman catholic but still... and Japan has the idea with the "fat" size... I'm no fat people hate kinda dude but there are limits, right??
