I'm looking for the best way to donate for local shelters, rescues, Humane Societies, etc. for helping.. I've done a lot of cash donations and for the last 10 years only asked for donations to local shelters if anyone ever wanted to give me a gift.

Campy stuff aside, I have several hundred dollars of unopened cat food - about 32lbs of dry and over 500 cans in wet. Belly boy kitty won't eat anything I have with his liver condition, I'll keep a fair amount for girl kitty.

The Humane Society seems like an obvious donation location for food, but there are so many small cat rescues. Should I prioritize the little ones entirely? I have 3x11lb bags of dry food unopened that gotta go and I'll add a few dozen wet cans boy kitty refuges.

A small shelter would be overloaded with that much Instinct dry and some cats might refuse it, like mine who is literally starving to death. Maybe some spread out, some to Humane and a few other charities?

The pet store I work at has a donation box and we distribute the food to the local shelter and to the community. We had a tornado roll through town and we donated a ton of dog and cat food to the families that were affected by it.

My Humane society will take even opened food and will disburse it out of they can.

I've seent it done on more than one occasion.

I'd spread the donations around, likely help more critters that way.
