Hinch has campaigned to implement the designated hitter in both leagues to increase offense and avoid injuries like the one to McCullers, a 24-year-old with 10 at-bats.

I really don't see how a 24 year old professional ball player is so fragile he can't swing the bat. Is it because of how specialized their conditioning is? It's odd.

I think it is like any activity - if you are not used to it, it can result in injury due to your body not being conditioned to perfrom that activity.

I went to my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and my brothers and I played basketbll for about an hour, which I haven't done in 15+ years. We had fun, we played hard, we competed. And then the next morning, every muscle in my leg hurt like crazy.
