Recent Hubble Telescope image of part of the distorted spiral galaxy NGC 2442 and NGC 2443, the Meathook Galaxy, located about 60 million light years away in the constellation of Volans (1920×1351)

wonder if society would have formed any differently if instead of having this weird milky path through the night sky, we had a near top view of the galaxy. would we have figured out orbital mechanics quicker or would we all be worshipping the galactic core?
