Neither. Benjamin Sisko. He created a fabrication to bring the Romulans into the Dominion War and in the process employed a former member of the Obsidian Order, killed a criminal, lied to a head of state, and killed the same head of state. And he knocked Q on his ass. Neither Picard nor Kirk had enough balls to do any of that.

Good points.

Thanks!

Deep Space Nine was the best Trek, hands down. And we also learn that Bajorans and Cardassians are the same species. It's never directly pointed out but they can have babies without medical help.

Actually, many of the Alpha/Beta quadrant races are derived from the same genetic ancestors, including Humans, Romulans/Vulcans, Klingons, and Cardassians.

Check out the TNG episode "The Chase". Season 7 I think.... Maybe 6.

Agreed!

Best Captain: Sisko

Best Series: DS9

So who's your favorite character and why is it Garak?

[–] antikaon 0 points (+0|-0)

I've been considering this for many years now. Over the years I've tried to come up with a series of convincing and logical points to present when confronted by naysayers, who in their ignorance, have denied the obvious. Alas, after years of painstaking research and analysis I've determined that the most concise and accurate answer to this all-important question is this:

Because Garak is friggin' awesome.

Yeah, but he was kind of just a "luck of the draw" sort of captain. He was able to observe a stable wormhole for years. He became a religious figure to the Bajorans on accident. He had a deep state Cardassian working in his tailoring shop. He had a Changling as his security chief...that would be equivalent to Picard having a Q on board. No other Starfleet Captain had that luck or those resources.

Watch the last season. It was neither luck nor accidental. He was half alien - wormhole alien, to be specific.

I never actually watched the last season. I was binging it a while ago and lost steam part way through S06 when Jake and Nog were on that ship run only by elite cadets. I tried watching that episode 3 times and ultimately gave up and never finished the series. It's a stupid reason, I know. I'll watch S7 if I ever activate my Netflix account again.

Picard. He took command seriously.

Kirk was a glory hound. He was always running off on an adventure when he should have been captaining his ship.

Picard was Borg. That didn't compromise him, it only made him more powerful. Picard wins.

Are you looking to start a war!?
That's some divisive shit.

Phuk-it, I'm in.
Kirk FTW! He beat up, or phukked every alien they met. Sometimes both!

Phuk you, you just earned probably the only non-spam down-phuk I've ever given. PICARD.IS.LOVE.PICARD.IS.LIFE.

You can't choose picard was clearly just as bad ass.

Yes I want to start a war. One FOR THE AGES!

Archer

He did found the federation.

I liked the character overall. Sure he had some flaws and made mistakes but you have to expect that from the first captain of the Enterprise. It made him seem human.

[–] Justintoxicated 1 points (+1|-0)

I don't think he gets enough credit, I mean much of his time was spent encountering situations never before experienced by humanity without nearly as much knowledge or a technological safety net.

Kirk. He actually made decisions without holding a staff meeting every time.

[–] Skyrock 1 points (+1|-0)

James T. Kirk - true leader of men and never afraid to get his shirt ripped when he needs to lay his own hands on.

[–] Justintoxicated 1 points (+1|-0)

Picard, he was incredibly well spoken and was far more realistic as a leader. Also he fucked Wes' mom and wiped his dick on Wes' 3-D chess set.

Just remember you asked for this debate and I'm no feminist asshat. Janeway. I dare you to contradict it. She broke the most rules on a path to glory.

[–] pmyb2 [OP] 1 points (+1|-0)

Only reason I would argue archer is he founded the federation.

His father laid the groundwork in the face of disappointment. He just stumbled upon a limited set of new challenges.
