On both Reddit and Voat there are bots for numerous things. Reddit has many and voat seems to only have one.

Do you like bots? Did you find them helpful or annoying?

I have to say I was pretty indifferent to them.

I'm sure I've seen a useful one or two, but I really can't remember when.

The auto-mod reddit bots are concentrated evil. Reddit went full retard with bots.

Voat's archive faggot needs to go fuck himself with a morning star while sitting in a bonfire.

go fuck himself with a morning star

Painful.

I can't speak for the Admins, but I think bots would be viewed as 'neat' if they were open about it, and did something helpful/interesting.
A few bots for a few things, is no problem. But the way it has gotten out of hand on Eddit is too much.
The whole 'good/bad bot' thing is comedic. Bots talking to bots about other bots, and sadly those are usually the smartest comments.

The number of bots of Reddit is a bit much. Although I have to admit I rarely visit that site or voat anymore. The bot on voat was fine to me but I had a small issue with the bot being issued on the persons main account. To me your bot should be separate from your main account.

Curious about something, maybe you know the answer. What's with the explanation point on some of the posts submitted? Does phuks tag certain websites?

I remember there being one useful bot on reddit - JIFFY. You could give it a YouTube video and a time frame and it would convert the section of video to gif.

HFY has a bot that notifies you when an author you follow posts a story in that sub, but we don't have the kind of volume that would justify that.

Also there's one that translates imperial units into metric. (hey @pembo210 think you could make that into a tooltip in YAPE?)

They piss me off to be honest. I would rather the features either be worked into the site as user options, as sub options for mods to use or for a browser extension like AVE or RES (a prototype version of this already exists).

If there were to be bots on phuks I like your idea of it being an option for users to decide and mods.

Some day I'll finish the Phuks API and we'll have bots.

Until then we won't have any bots at all

Pardon my newbie question....you are the admin?

[–] pembo210 1 points (+1|-0)

yes. Me too and a few others that help control spam. All admin actions are recorded in the sitelog.

[–] simone [OP] 1 points (+1|-0)

Just located the site log, thanks.

Quick question. Does phuks want growth or are the admins content with the small userbase?

[–] Polsaker 1 points (+1|-0)

Yeah, one of them. I'm also in charge of doing nothing development

Not what you mean, but my first thought was how sites like this may become obsolete in their present form when chatbots cross a hypothetical threshold.

I'm no expert on reddit bots, but I thought the youtube -> hooktube conversion on voat was useful. Agree that bots and accounts pretending to be people should be kept separate.
