After what paypal did to Voat, Wikileaks, and others, I don't think it's worth the development time. Better go with stripe, it's easier to implement and easier for the user; but there are some horror stories about them as well.
The original site was called shitposting.space, then it was renamed to Throat, now its Phuks. SS and Throat were both very alpha versions with barely any features. Every time an update was made, all of the posts were wiped.

I had the initial idea to build this style site vs another layout. I wanted something that didnt need the expensive microsoft servers to run, like voat, and was in a language (python) that a lot of people could do if they wanted to help out, like reddit. I didn't know much python at the time and thought it would be a good learning exercise to build something live with it. So we combined the best of both.
The other big thing is that they (reddit too) claim to be open source but don't have the actual source available anywhere. Both have out-of-date public repos. This site can only load code from the public repository, so no changes can be made to the site until the code for it is completely public for everyone to see.
Now that we have a good platform, we're adding the little extras. It's still a little rough looking, but there's already a new frontend in the works.
Yeah, I also got tired of SRS type activity on both sites.
