The exact formula, as I recall is - to reach level X you need X squared times 10 in Phuks taken.
Therefore, reaching level 2 is 40 Phuks taken (2 * 2 = 4; 4 * 10 = 40). When I reached level 12, I had 1440 Phuks taken (12 * 12 = 144; 144 * 10 = 1440).
