It really is just amazing. A while back I had the realization that pieces like this were made before commercially available sandpaper. Artists mixed a lot of their own supplies back then but I have wondered what medium they used to smooth it out. Marble is some seriously hard stone even using power tools. I was a bit of a pot head during college and made a couple simple pipes out of it.
