I have been a volunteer rescue squad member for over 20 years. I have a very close friend who rode with me years ago. He was lucky enough to be on a call and help deliver a baby girl in the back of the rig. He received the coveted pink pin for helping deliver a baby.
Fast forward 20 years. My friend is talking to the waitress that is serving him dinner. Where are you from, where did you grow up, etc. She tells him that she was born in the back of an ambulance. Turns out out he was talking to the girl he helped deliver all those years ago.
Yea, I told the story to all the older members of the squad that remember my buddy from years ago. They just shake their heads and say "that's fucking amazing." Keep in mind, it's very rare you get to deliver a baby in the back of the rig. I've been riding damn near close to 30 years and I never had a maternity call.
