I rode with a drunk driver [...] Our speed was more than twice the posted speed limit the last time I looked at his speedometer

I know that situation, but when I get to that It's usually the last train and I'm too drunk to drive better. I'm aware I've been lucky so far.

BTW, how did you get a before pic?

My buddy (who also happens to be my now-in-lots-of-legal-trouble lawyer) bought a new Mustang GT(some_numbers). I have a really fast BMW as my daily driver and was insulting him and his shitty car.

We were also shitfaced.

So, I was goading him and it turns out I am right - he is a shitty driver!

I have been in the hospital for a couple of weeks, or so. I go home tomorrow. Our speed was well into the triple digits range. I can't be too specific, because I do not know the exact speed.

This will either trigger some PTSD or make you laugh. I'm hoping for the latter.

Glad you made it out alive man. Get well soon!

It made me chuckle. I ain't smart enough to get PTSD.

When we were mid-crash and headed for the first obstacle, a telephone pole, my buddy said, "Oh shit!" I said, "Look out, coming through!" I was just finishing that when we (I think) went through the pole and began our first tumble on the lateral axis.

We were going really, really fast. It is probably the fact that we hard harnesses instead of regular seat belts that saved our lives. There was a trail of destruction and vehicle parts for like 150' through the woods.

At the end, we were pretty much just the passenger cabin.

Up until that point, it had been a pretty damned good day!

You guys shouldn't take getting smashed so literally!

LOL True!

I gotta tell ya, it was a pretty interesting day. On the list of interesting days, that was one of the more interesting days.

It wasn't a best day ever, but it was a pretty damned good day - until the vehicle left the ground the first time.

Racing and drinking just don't fit together, don't combine them. They're both unhealthy and it looks like the risk multiply.

Oh, I know.

I play guitar. It should be obvious that I have a history of bad choices!

As we lay waiting for rescue, the car pretty much only the passenger cabin and a trail of debris, we figured we might as well finish the cocaine.

Ain't even kidding.

We broke at least two trees and a telephone pole. We went though the pole, taking a chunk out of the middle.

If I had to guess, and this is just a guess, our speed was probably about 120 mph.

We were both wearing our harnesses. The car didn't have regular seat belts but had racing harnesses. I am hoping to get pics sometime soon - but I am pretty sure it is still impounded.

My buddy is looking at a 30 day sentence, 'cause it is his first offense BUT it involved property damage and personal injury. So, he is gonna go to jail. The likely result is that he will simply do the time on the weekends or will do the full 30 days and do it with work-release. He will serve (on a 30 day, minimal sentence) 15 to 20 days, with good time.

No, I am not the list bit angry with him - even though he keeps coming to tell me that he is sorry. I am partially to blame. I was there beside him and was egging him on.

His fault lies in buying such a shitty car and just being a shitty driver!
