I'm a crappy typist and don't spend a lot of time thinking about my grammar or revising my comments before posting. I post something and then upon reading it realize I made a simple mistake that makes me look retarded (e.g. switched "you're" and "your"). So I then edit my comment to fix it, but that makes me look like a shady MFer. I'm not trying to pull the ole Reddit switcheroo on people by changing what others reply to, rather just boost the intellectual discourse on this phuking site by having correct grammar and spelling.

Instead of changing my bad habits, I am outsourcing this as an idea where comments edited within <1 minute don't show up as edited. Only a level 30 basement dweller will have read a post within 1 minute of being posted, so this avoids the problem of OP changing the meaning of the content after others have read and responded to it.

I thought we did have a one minute grace period or something like that.

Edit lol: oh wait that's for posts not comments.

So right now on your post it shows

Which I guess is pretty fair and gives the reader a decent idea that your edit likely isn't pulling some shady shit. Really the best would be to see the full edit history with highlighted diffs. But that's a disruptive UI change obviously, and I'm guess those without autism wouldn't like or even care about this.

Maybe we could put this on a blockchain and make a few pesos?

We are experimenting with that. It's admin only for now and we have yet to make a diff view: https://i.imgur.com/FGy6cKH.png
