Can't have kids thinking for themselves instead of following rigid, illogical instructions. That would lead to adults that might question the legitimacy of the government!

Not only is the question retarded, but the teacher that is OK with marking that answer as incorrect is even more retarded.

I see this crap with my daughter's kids. The questions are nonsensical so the "correct" answer is pretty much random. Early childhood education majors are even stupider than PE majors. Really. And that's who's in charge of our children's intellectual development.

I hope you use lots of those opportunities as teachable moments to explain that adults and those in authority don't always know what is correct.

Occasionally. But I hammered that shit home for years raising my daughter as a single dad. It's on her now.

If I have kids, they are definitely going to either be homeschooled or go to a private school that doesn't teach retard math

There you are mistaken. This isn't about teaching math, it is about teaching conformity and obedience to authority figures.

True, although I would want my kids to know how to multiply two numbers without a calculator, which seems like you won't be taught anymore

I had trouble with my daughter and math this year, she's in first grade. I had to teach her methods we used in school to find the right answers. The methods they use are prone to error and confusion, they're just not natural and they don't adequately convey the concept that needs to be understood.

In my opinion, it seems the goal is not to teach math, but rather makes it so confusing and arbitrary so test scores between different demographics converge. so like a rich white school and a poor black school will report similar standardized test scores. Everyone fails equally.

Poor question design, the concept can be taught just as easily by asking "is 74 a good estimate".

For example: on Monday 28 accusers of Bill Cosby came forward, Tuesday the total was closer to 103. Is 74 a good estimate of the accusersthat came forward on Tuesday?

Minus fucking one. Our teachers are heroes. They nurture our kids.

It's a good thing I don't have kids, or I'd have beaten a teacher to death by now.
