The son of a California man who choked to death during an amateur taco eating contest at a minor league baseball game is suing the event’s organizers for negligence

This got funnier the more I read...

Live by the taco, die by the taco.

I mean, you have to see this sort of thing as an inherent risk of trying to eat as much as possible as fast as possible.

Yeah, if not chewing your food and eating super fast was healthy then people would do it daily.

The reason that works for hotdogs is probably because the texture and structure of a hotdog is softer and slicker, while tacos often have crunchy corn shells and tougher meats like steak. Hotdogs may as well be designed to be eaten in contests.

I was wondering if the tacos in the contest were crunchy or soft but I didn't see it specifically mention either or. I would assume crunchy, but a lot of eating contests make sure you eat every last large crumb so crunchy tacos would be very hard to do due to the shells falling apart when eating them rapidly.

I mean if you gotta go some day, there's worse ways to die than that.
