So let's say you have a spaceship that can transport you anywhere at near the speed of light and you can go into hypersleep. So it can fly around until it finds a planet with oxygen that you think is pretty. Do you leave earth knowing you could never come back (at least not to see anyone you knew)?

To me I think the adventure would be too great to miss out on.

You'd need some men to give genetic diversity.

I'll allow artificial insemination once they get too old for me, I guess. Fair enough, we'll take some frozen sperm.

he could just take a small sperm bank with him so he wouldn't have to give up his alpha status

I used to think I'd leave. Now that I'm married my viewpoint has changed.

Only if I could survey the native wildlife first. If it turns out that the planet has dinosaur-sized land or air predators, then I'd rather stay here on earth.

Yeah lol that would be dangerous.

In my fantasy if the predators were too big i'd just fly around in a shuttle a bit to see the cool monsters, then go to another planet.
