A powered mosquito killer or many, many bait traps are more effective than repellant.
There a lots of sites with instructions to make the traps from 2 liter pop bottles. You can also get mosquito bait cubes for traps from large nursey centers or from amazon. We been using traps for a couple years and have never been so mosquito free. The mosquito killer work well, too, but they're propane driven. There are lot of new traps that have a UV light and fans to pull them into a killing chamber, but I don't think they work as well.
